Closure Announcement

Dear Customers, Friends & Team Members,

After more than 30 years of retailing furniture and home décor, By Dezign Auburn will be closing its doors in the coming months.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision and one that has only been made after carefully considering every other option.

Over the past three decades, we have weathered many challenges that at times seemed insurmountable. With the support of our loyal customers and the dedication of an extraordinary team, we navigated events such as 9/11, the Global Financial Crisis, Covid and many other obstacles that threatened small businesses like ours.

As an independent family-owned business, we believe now is the right time to say goodbye while we are still immensely proud of what By Dezign has become.

In recent years, a combination of factors has made operating increasingly difficult. The closure of several long-standing suppliers, rising local and global costs, ongoing increases in freight and manufacturing expenses, and a challenging retail environment have all contributed to this decision. While these challenges are being felt by businesses across Australia, they have become increasingly difficult for independent retailers overcome.

Despite this announcement, we want to reassure all our valued customers that it is business as usual until we close our doors. All existing orders will be fulfilled as planned, with no changes to incoming stock. Our warehouse operations, delivery services and customer support team will continue operating as normal, and we remain fully committed to providing the same professional and reliable service that customers have trusted for the past 30 years.

To our incredible staff — both past and present — thank you.

You have been part of a very special family, and we are endlessly grateful for your loyalty, hard work and friendship. Together, we built far more than a furniture business. We built a workplace filled with laughter, challenges, achievements, lifelong friendships and memories that we will cherish forever.

Our Warehouse Manager has been with us since before we first opened our doors in Homebush in 1996. Our Financial Controller joined not long after, and so many members of our team have dedicated more than a decade of their lives to By Dezign. We are also incredibly proud that many staff members trusted us enough to bring their children, siblings and relatives into the business over the years. That faith in us has always meant more than words can express.

To all former By Dezign team members, thank you for continuing to drop by over the years, sharing news of your lives and families, and reminding us what made this business so special.

To our loyal customers, thank you. Many of you furnished your first home with us, returned years later for your next chapter, and recommended us to your friends and family. Your support has allowed us to do what we love for more than three decades, and for that we will be forever grateful.

As we enter our final months, we hope many of our customers, friends and former team members will visit us one last time — whether to shop, say hello, or simply reminisce about the incredible journey that By Dezign has been.
